1st Tai Chi Form at Burlington Recreation
I made this form by myself. Inspired by Chen, Sun, Wu, Wu(Hao), and Yang style.
My Tai Chi form that uses the Horse Stance, Wuji, and Angled Horse as a basis.
1. Commencement
Do:
• Use Horse Stance.
• Lift both hands.
• Draw in.
• Press down.
Up Next: Open Hands
Move:
• Step in ⬅️ with the right foot to Wuji stance.
2. Open Hands
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Palms face each other.
• Breathe in while hands separate.
Up Next: Close Hands
Move:
• Keep weight even or slightly on the left.
• Stay in Wuji stance.
3. Close Hands
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Palms face each other.
• Breathe out while hands close in to the center.
Up Next: Side-hand Counter
Move:
• Step out and forward ↗️ with the right foot into an Angled Horse Stance.
4. Trace the Letter C / Side-hand Counter
Do:
• Trace a smile/the letter “C” with the hands; the right hand is leading.
• Ease into the Angled Horse Stance toward the target.
• ⚠️ Keep the knee behind the toes.
• 🎯 Hands will be at the right hip location.

Move:
• Step up ↗️ with the left foot to Wuji stance.
5. Hold the Ball
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Hold a vertical "big ball" with the right hand on top and left hand on the bottom.
Up Next: Parting the Wild Horse's Mane
Move:
• Step out and forward ↖️ with the left foot into an Angled Horse Stance.
6. Wall Off
Do:
• Lower the right hand toward hip level, palm down.
• Left palm faces you, aiming toward heart height.
• Ease into the Angled Horse Stance toward the target.
• 🎯 Left palm is leading to heart height, palm facing you; right hand secures downwards with pa;m down.
• Maintain good posture and balance while focusing on this vertical push and pull action.
Up Next: Seeming Sealed, Appear Closed
Move:
• Step up ↖️ with the right foot to Wuji stance.
7. Seeming Sealed, Appear Closed
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Gather hands to cross at shoulder height, palms facing you (right hand on the outside).
• Step out evenly ➡️ with the right foot into a Horse Stance.
• Sneak the left hand under the right wrist; left palm faces away from the body.
• Separate hands evenly to shoulder level—left hand moves left, right hand moves right.
• Press down with both palms.
Up Next: Wave Hands Like Clouds
Move:
• Step in ⬅️ with the right foot to Wuji stance.
8. Wave Hands Like Clouds
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Lower the left hand below hip level, the left palm facing the leg. (First Position)
• Right hand is at the height of the left elbow, the right palm facing down. (First Position)
• Step out evenly ➡️ with the right foot into a Horse Stance.
• As the heel touches down, trace circles:
◦ Right hand traces a smile downwards.
◦ Left hand traces a rainbow upwards.
• Hands end in starting positions but roles switched (right hand lower, left hand higher).
• Step in ➡️ with the left foot to Wuji stance.
• Subtly shift weight to the left ⬅️ (no stepping) to setup the wind up again. Do this while repeating the tracing hand movements as they switch roles and return to the first position. The first position is with left palm facing leg and right palm at the height of the left elbow.
• Repeat this sequence twice more (total of three times).
• On the final swing, end in Wuji stance with right hand lower and left hand higher. Weight needs to be on the right foot for the next movement.

Move:
• Step out and forward ↖️ with the left foot into an Angled Horse Stance.
9. Play the Lute
Do:
• In the Angled Horse Stance, touch the left heel lightly with ball of the foot elevated.
• Left hand leads toward the left corner, reaching out as if to shake someone’s hand.
• Right hand protects at the left elbow.
• Place the left foot down, loading weight with good posture.
Up Next: Coil Elbows
Move:
• Step up ↖️ with the right foot to Wuji stance.
10. Coil Elbows / Wrap Together
Do:
• Use Wuji stance.
• Left hand holds the right arm's bicep.
• Right hand secures under the left elbow (funny bone area).
Up Next: Rising Jab
Move:
• Step out and forward ↗️ with the right foot into an Angled Horse Stance.
11. Parting the Wild Horse's Mane
Do:
• Elevate the right hand toward shuolder height palm up.
• Left palm down, aiming toward slightly lower than shoulder height.
• Ease into the Angled Horse Stance toward the target.
• 🎯 Right palm is leading, leveraging upwards; left hand secures downwards.
• Maintain good posture and balance while focusing on this vertical push and pull action.
Up Next: Reinforced Grab
Move:
• Step up ↗️ with the left foot to Wuji stance.
12. Reinforced Grab
Do:
• In Wuji stance, turn the right palm forward to face the target to grab.
• Left hand matches the right hand's height, the left palm facing you.
Up Next: Single Whip
Move:
• Step out and forward ↖️ with the left foot into an Angled Horse Stance.
13. Single Whip
Do:
• In the Angled Horse Stance, place and load the left foot.
• Secure slightly downward with the right hand.
• Rotate the left hand as you push forward at shoulder height.
• 🎯 Left pushing at shoulder/elbow height; right hand secures slightly downwards.
• Maintain good posture and balance while focusing on this horizontal push and pull action.
Up Next: Double Press
Move:
• Step up ⬆️ with the right foot into a Horse Stance.
14. Double Press
Do:
• Press both hands downward as you step into Horse Stance with the right foot.
• Look to aim downward while pressing.
Up Next: White Crane Flashes Wings
Move:
• Stay in Horse Stance.
15. White Crane Flashes Wings
Do:
• After the double press, raise the right hand while lowering the left hand.
• Right hand traces a large semicircle to the right.
• Left hand traces a large semicircle to the left.
• Hands end in switched positions at the center (left hand at top, right hand at bottom).
• Lower the left hand to center; raise the right hand to center.
• Push both hands forward at upper chest height.
• Ease the hands into claw shape (imagine eagle talons). Lower hands to navel level.
Up Next: Closing Form
Move:
• Stay in Horse Stance.
16. Closing Form
Do:
• Use Horse Stance.
• Lift both hands.
• Draw in.
• Press down.
